This position is located at the Maintenance Department which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department Aboard Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida.
Duties
Performs work in a variety of trades in maintenance and repair of interior/exterior structures, related fixtures and utilities.
Installs, modifies and repairs new and existing plumbing. Installs disposal systems and equipment such as sewage and water distributions systems. Works from building plans, blueprints and sketches.
Uses skilled techniques to construct, install, repair or modify structures. Assembles using a variety of techniques.
Performs special coating methods such as marbling and graining using materials prepared in special as well as common ways.
Assists with set up of large canopy tents on a regular basis.
Observes required safety, sanitation and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Must reside within a 50 mile radius of 32212 at time of applying.
- Must be able to lift, carry and set-up materials and equipment.
Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Although not required, a CDL (commercial driver's license) is strongly preferred.
Must have at least two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge in a combination of at least two of the trades, carpentry, plumbing or painting.
Must have the ability to read blueprints, sketches, building plans etc.
Must have a valid Florida State Driver License. Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license issued by employer.
Able to withstand prolonged standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing. Incumbent is exposed to dirt, paint vapors and fumes. Must wear issued protective gear.
