You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in the FACILITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT, FACILITY AND PLANT MAINTENANCE DIVISION of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will read and interpret blueprint, drawings, technical data, and instructions. You will repair or maintain industrial plant equipment and facilities. You will work independently and take the initiative to complete the work assigned with minimum direct supervision. You will perform tasks using a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, pipefitting, electrical, mechanical, metalworking, welding, and associated trades.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Performing skilled maintenance tasks associated with the upkeep and operation of industrial plant equipment, buildings, and building equipment; Removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective parts of high pressure piping systems and equipment; Installing, aligning, repairing, overhauling, and maintaining fixed and semi-fixed production machinery; Planning, performing, installing, removing, and re-positioning machinery equipment, structural members of ships or buildings and complex weight handling gear; and Modifying, troubleshooting, loading and testing new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, fixtures and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.
