This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Eighth Coast Guard District, Western Rivers & Waterways Management Division, Bridge Admin Branch, in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Duties
Under the direction of the District Bridge Manager (DBM), the incumbent monitors project priorities and program goals; meets work deadlines established by the DBM; and provides guidance to the District Bridge Office personnel, other District staff, field units and federal, state, and local agencies in the policies, procedures and proper interpretation of the bridge program requirements and jurisdiction.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-12 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level (in the Federal sector). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Investigating reported violations of laws and regulations related to bridges;
Interpreting environmental control laws (e.g., National Environmental Policy Act);
Conducting environmental site assessments for proposed bridge projects.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
