The incumbent of this position serves as an Attorney-Advisor (General) providing legal advice and representation on draft opinions and orders pertaining to enforcement matters as well as provide assistance for investigations and their related issues while supporting the Office of General Counsel (GC) with administrative law matters.

Duties

As an Attorney-Advisor (General), GS-0905-13, you will perform the following major duties:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Financial Interest in transportation enterprises will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • May be required to serve a one-year trial period.
  • You may be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually.
  • THIS POSITION IS NOT ELIGIBILE FOR REMOTE WORK.
  • This position requires the incumbent to maintain active bar membership, in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. territory, the District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • Veteran's preference requirements do not apply to attorney positions in the excepted service.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following Basic Requirements: Must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.), or Bachelor of Law (LL.B), or Master of Law (LL.B) professional law degree from an accredited ABA law school; and be an active member in good standing of the bar of a court of general jurisdiction of a state, territory or possession of the U.S. In addition to the above Basic Requirements, you must also possess the following specialized experience: GS-13: You MUST have a minimum of three (3) years of professional legal experience post bar admission: Providing legal analysis of law cases, investigative reports, files or documents which would impact an organization; preparing summaries of legal cases for review by management; conducting research using Lexis or Westlaw databases; drafting legal documents that are filed in an adjudicating forum or submitted to leadership; and presenting orally legal issues or analyses. Education
