The position is located in the Department of State (DOS), Bureau of International Organization Affairs, Office of Public Affairs and Outreach (IO/PAO).
Duties
Generates and edits content for use by IO/PAO public messaging, including reporting, social media, speeches for IO leadership and campaigns, and other public diplomacy outreach efforts within the
international organization community.
Conceptualizes and develops broad public communication strategic plans aligned with Bureau priorities and designed to address both U.S. and foreign audiences.
Establishes the strategic communications framework in consultation with office leadership, included projected staff time needs and anticipated audience impact.
Guides and oversees the production, clearance, and submission of outreach, media, and messaging products.
Creates digital content for social media campaigns and provides analyses and reports of IO social media platforms following a campaign.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing and implementing effective public communication strategies.
Experience analyzing and evaluating social media platforms and utilizing digital media in public outreach campaigns.
Experience developing and communicating messages related to U.S. multilateral priorities and international organizations.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
