This position is located in the Office of Ship Operations, Office of the Deputy Associate Administrator for Federal Sealift, Office of the Associate Administrator for Strategic Sealift, Maritime Administration (MARAD). This position is established to serve as the Director of Ship Operations and is responsible for operations, maintenance, repair, and logistics support of MARAD-owned or acquired merchant ships.

Qualifications

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirements.To qualify for the Grade 15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience (equal or equivalent to the GS-14), in TWO OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS: Coordinating the development and execution of critical marine engineering programs; Liaising with top-level program, policy, budgeting officials, and other Federal agencies; Reviewing and approving changes in plans and specifications for vessel repair, maintenance, or operation contracts; and/or Implementing management improvements (e.g., cost reductions, creating efficiencies). KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Technical Competence - Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.
