About the Position: Serves as the Chief, Systems Integration Branch in the Headquarters Health Information Technology (HIT) Directorate, within the Chief Medical Information Office Division, located in Falls Church, Virginia.
Duties
Responsible for the planning, designing, acquisition, testing, training, and implementation of Military HealthSystem (MHS) Health Information Systems (HIS), starting from concept and exploration and continuing through the development for support.
Provides guidance and oversight of all MEDCOM facilities integrating new and sustained information, technology and systems.
Serves as Functional Representative/Liaison at all levels to include the Army and other Services.
Ensures business methodologies and clinical practices are complete and accurately displayed in the system and effectively integrated into the patient database across the continuum of care.
Serves as a direct supervisor, exercising the full range of personnel management responsibilities.
Researches, interprets,analyzes, and applies proper guidelines, policies, regulations, etc., in planning goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must complete one year Supervisory probation.
- Temporary duty (TDY travel of 25% of the time.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure report upon entering the position and annually,
- Must obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.

Basic Requirements: Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Individual Occupational requirements: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.
The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning and coordinating the development of system concepts and design, workload and cost estimates, automation projects, and system feasibility determinations; strong technical expertise and knowledge in hierarchical, network, and relational data base systems and the methodology interacting these for intelligence data and high level computer language and communications systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
