The position is for a High Voltage Electrician. The position reports to the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. The position is responsible to maintain two 1-megawatt stationary emergency generators as well as an assortment of other standby generators to power the station during commercial power loss, as well as site's sub-station and transformers, electrical distribution lines, main disconnect panels, and supporting system that exceed the voltage limit of standard electricians (1000VAC).
Duties
Duties for this position include:
Clean, adjust and repair electrical equipment such as air, oil and vacuum circuit breakers and remote control supervisory and telemetering equipment.
Construction and install rigid conduits, pull in conductors, assemble bus bars and phase out and connect conductors.
Troubleshoot overhead and underground cable systems to locate shorts, opens, grounds, crosses, electrolysis damage, capacitance imbalance or cable breaks.
Coordinate testing of insulating oil from transformers and oil switches for breakdown and contamination.
Maintain and repair diesel and gas-powered emergency generators and associated equipment.
Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, and test new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
Work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and sage operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls.
Maintain and repair electrical portion of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and automatic operating controls, and flame protection devices for the boilers in the Power Plant.
Visually check the work of contractors for compliance with facility standards and electrical codes.
Request preventative maintenance numbers, following procedures established by Engineering Service, for newly installed equipment, where maintenance is the responsibility of the position, including equipment installed by contract.
Contacts vendors to determine current pricing, material availability, and ordering information.
Submits a material request form with the appropriate justification, when materials are required to accomplish assigned tasks.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 07:00am-03:30pm (Subject to change based on the needs of the agency).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Position makes repairs from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms to reach equipment in out-of the-way places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring, and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles lifts, carries and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items over 50 pounds with the assistance of others and/or equipment.
