Duties
This job opportunity is located in the Jeffersonville Contact Center (JCC), National Processing Center (NPC), Jeffersonville, IN. This position directs Statistical Clerks within JCC. This position is not included in the bargaining unit. The individual selected for this position will:
Assist in planning, directing and monitoring telephone activities designed to acquire missing or incomplete data items for the purpose of preparing questionnaires/report forms for processing.
Communicate with Sponsors, and staff of the program, administrative and other work units, and activities throughout the division and Census Bureau; communicate daily through e-mails (sending forward difficult or unusual cases, threats) and periodic reports.
Determine staffing needs for surveys based on information from sponsors or on the number of surveys remaining in queues, maintain a smooth flow of work while absorbing and releasing employees, and distribute the workload and add or reduce work hours for assigned surveys dependent on workload.
Respond to and document all inquiry calls from survey respondents to verify or clarify survey goals and purposes.
Contact previous refusals in order to persuade the individual to cooperate by providing explanations of the confidentiality and uses of the survey data.
Tour of Duty: Various shifts will be offered. Hours will be an (8) hour shift Monday-Friday between 7:30am-6pm. AWS may be available. Positions may include evening or weekend work, hours will vary.
If the position is later determined to be permanent, it may be made permanent without further competition.
Qualifications
Time in Grade:
Grade 6 -
In addition to specialized experience, you must meet the time in grade requirement. Current and former Federal civilian employees must have held a position at the grade 05 for at least 52 weeks in the Federal Service for promotion to the grade 06.
Grade 7 -
In addition to specialized experience, you must meet the time in grade requirement. Current and former Federal civilian employees must have held a position at the grade 06 for at least 52 weeks in the Federal Service for promotion to the grade 07.
Specialized Experience:
You qualify at the grade 6 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 5 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as performing and leading employees in duties relative to interviewing respondents for surveys; monitoring calls, providing feedback to improve or commend performance, and completing forms and preparing reports.
You qualify at the grade 7 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 6 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as assisting in planning, directing, and monitoring telephone activities designed to acquire missing or incomplete data items; reporting progress to higher level management, reviewing progress reports, and ensuring work is completed within specified time limits; and using computer systems to determine performance and run reports.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Employees on a permanent appointment who were hired through a Recruiting Bulletin, who have not served in their current appointment for at least 90 days, are not eligible to apply.
