Duties
This job opportunity is located in the Construction Surveys Unit, Current Processing Section, Survey Processing Branch (SPB), National Processing Center (NPC), Jeffersonville, IN. This position performs directs the work of Statistical Assistants and Clerks who perform various functions such as transcription, coding, matching, filing sorting and controls for a variety of survey programs. The incumbent serves as the technical expert and directs and assists in the planning of check-in/screening/problem and edit resolution/telephone follow-up (incoming and outgoing) and correspondence activities for the purpose of preparing questionnaires/report forms for further processing. This position is not included in the bargaining unit. The individual selected for this position will:
Direct and assist in the planning and directing check-in/screening/problem and edit resolution/telephone follow-up (incoming and outgoing) and correspondence activities for the purpose of preparing questionnaires/report forms for further processing;
Maintain regular contact with sponsoring Division Branch Chief/Staff regarding changes in operational procedures and suggests ways for improvement to ensure that information provided to sponsors and outside users is accurate and consistent;
Participate in technical meetings with sponsoring Division Branch Chief/Staff to resolve problems, etc.;
Manage the operation, scheduling and control of assigned Survey forms.
Tour of Duty: Hours will range between 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Alternate Work Schedule is available. Alternate Work Schedule is an 80-hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off. Positions may include evening or weekend work, hours will vary.
Qualifications
Time in Grade: In addition to specialized experience, you must meet the time in grade requirement. Current and former Federal civilian employees must have held a position at the grade 07 for at least 52 weeks in the Federal Service for promotion to the grade 08.
You qualify at the grade 08 level if you meet the minimum qualification requirements and possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 07 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as assisting in planning, directing, and monitoring work that requires statistical analysis of collected data as it relates to telephone activities designed to acquire missing or incomplete data items for surveys; ensuring work is completed within specified time limits; completing forms and preparing reports.
Education cannot be substituted at this grade level.
Employees on a permanent appointment who were hired through a Recruiting Bulletin, who have not served in their current appointment for at least 90 days, are not eligible to apply.
