About the Position: You will work for a U.S. Army Recruiting Brigade in the Advertising and Public Affairs section and will be responsible for developing modern and engaging content to support the brigade's engagement strategy for reaching its internal and external audiences as part of the recruiting mission for the U.S. Army and Army Reserve.
Duties
Assist the Advertising and Public Affairs Chief with planning social media strategies and content to communicate U.S. Army Recruiting Command’s communication focus areas, priorities and missions at the battalion level.
Provide or coordinate for social media coverage of major communication events and efforts using the battalion’s official social media platforms.
Work regularly with USAREC’s web content manager and social media marketing representative.
Research new and innovative tools, programs, systems, software, services and social media industry trends to maintain the battalion’s currency and relevance with social media efforts and strategies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent may have to work alternate work schedule to include nights and weekends.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Planning and creating multimedia content using graphic design, photo
manipulation and video editing software and techniques on various social media websites such as Facebook, YouTube, WeChat, Instagram, Twitter, etc.; 2) Providing social media coverage for major events; AND 3) Researching and implementing social media trends and advertising.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as Social Media, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, and Marketing. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
