Job opening: Equal Employment Specialist (Senior Counselor)

Incumbent will serve as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Specialist (Senior Counselor) for the ORMDI. Incumbent is responsible for assuring the work of the EEO Counselor team is carried out by performing a range of duties which includes: mentor and coach counselors, counsel EEO complaints, serve as a technical advisor, coordinate supportive duties, update management on program performance and provide training

Duties

Provide technical guidance and evaluates the entire work efforts of EEO counselors in the performance of counseling informal claims. Monitor counselor cases to provide advice on resolving deficiencies. Process informal complaints within the regulatory time frames and according to regulations, directives, policy and procedure. Coordinate compliant services that focus on identifying and solving systemic problems. Act as the focal point for the extensive degree of coordination required for successfully resolving problems. Participate in professional development training regularly to stay informed of developments in EEO practices. Develop presentation on the complaint systems and related matters to program managers and supervisors.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel Management's group coverage qualification standards, associated individual occupational requirements (IOR), and individual qualification standards covering white collar occupations in the Federal competitive service can be found here. To qualify, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves (1) Providing technical guidance to staff on EEO procedural decisions; (2) Monitoring EEO operations for an organization; (3) Providing training to staff on EEO procedures; (4) Monitoring in automated tracking systems.

Education



There is no educational substitution for the GS-12 level.
