This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.

Duties

Directing and assisting with the indentification and development of proactive initiatives regarding programs within GPO that are highly susceptible to fraud. Consults with the other Divisions and the Counsel to the IG (CTIG) to coordinate reviews and special projects and plan review strategies and tactics. Prepares accurate thorough, well-written and credible investigative reports and reviews, edits and authorizes team-member or subordiante staff reports. Analyzes extremely complex and difficult legal questions, policy concerns, or factual issues requiring extensive research. Drafts extremely complex and difficult policies, procedures and directives involving criminal, civil and administrative investigations for senior staff to review.

• Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment prior to appointment.

• Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
• TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Attorney (Investigative), PG -0905-13, you must meet the following requirements: (1) An applicant must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL. B or JD). AND (2) Must be a member in good standing of the appropriate licensing authority of any state, territory of the United States, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or District of Columbia bar.; NOTE: You are required to disclose any current allegations or previous findings of ethics, judicial, or other professional misconduct by any state bar or attorney disciplinary committee. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (3) In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements above, to qualify for the PG-13 level position, you must: have successfully completed at least 2 years of professional legal experience post bar admission, with one year of experience equivalent to the PG-12 level. Incumbent must also have a minimum of 1 year specialized experience in planning and conducting investigations and reviews with a high degree of competency and expertise. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
