About the Position: You will provide Administrative Officer services in support of the United States Army Garrison, Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) at Fort Hamilton, New York. The Directorate is responsible for the quality force protection, law enforcement, physical security, access control, Fire & Emergency services, and Police and Community Liaison Services to the Community.
Duties
Utilize knowledge of established procedures and formats when reviewing and preparing official correspondence for the directorate senior leadership.
Prepare for the Director a variety of correspondence including but not limited to endorsements, letters, and memorandums to both request and to convey information.
Collect and consolidate data from other DES divisions for reply in response to a garrison directorate/special staff office or installation tenant activity task action.
Serve as the Management Information Control Liaison Officer for the directorate.
Serve as the information and knowledge management specialist for the directorate.
Track annual mandatory training and updates the monthly training report, and schedules mandatory face-to-face training.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Work may require irregular and/or weekend hours.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing personnel tasks as hiring actions, awards, records management, etc., in support of an organization's mission; 2) preparing documents such as spreadsheets, correspondence, endorsements, letters and/or memorandums; and 3) utilizing computer software programs to track and/or update data for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Business or any other related major. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
