You will serve as a Health Technician (Audiology/Hearing Conservation Program) in the Occupational Audiology Department of NMRTC PEARL HARBOR HI.
"A Cost-of- Living Allowance (COLA) of 9.28% will be added to the stated salary, subject to change without notice".
This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will access vital patient health history data and review health issues impacting hearing sensitivity or audiological test results.
You will identify patient workplace hearing health hazards.
You will evaluate outer and middle ear function through otoscopic examination of the ear canals, tympanometry, and acoustic reflex screening procedures.
You will evaluate and test procedure results, reviews results and patients, and make disposition determinations.

- In accordance with BUMEDINST 1500.15F employees assigned to or subject to be assigned to duties providing direct patient care, either diagnostic or therapeutic must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
- Assisting with appointments, scheduling, and Occupational Audiology related issues.
- Scheduling routine hearing tests and providing annual training/indoctrination to patients.
- Assisting with preparing monthly reports to area command in accordance with hearing conservation regulations.
- Performing fitting and evaluating appropriate use of hearing protection devices
- Conducting hearing tests on personnel assigned to the Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) to measure and evaluate changes in hearing threshold levels.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7.
