You will serve as a HEALTH TECHNICIAN (AUDIOLOGY/HEARING CONSERVATION) in the Occupational Medicine Department of NMRTC PEARL HARBOR HI.
This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will access vital patient health history data and review health issues impacting hearing sensitivity or audiological test results.
You will evaluate outer and middle ear function through otoscopic examination of the ear canals tympanometry, and acoustic reflex screening procedures.
You will document individualized medical notes on each patient in their electronic health record.
You will generate reports and initiate responses to formal and informal correspondence.
You will provide proactive hearing loss prevention services.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Occupational Hearing Conservation Technician certification within 6 months of hire. Successful re-certification is required every 5 years.
- Must maintain a current, valid certification and an Occupational Hearing Conservation Technician and successfully achieve annual technician provider competency assessments.
- In accordance with BUMEDINST 6220.9B, this position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- In accordance with BUMEDINST 1500.15F employees assigned to or subject to being assigned to duties providing direct patient care, either diagnostic or therapeutic must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Health Care Workers (HCW) with potential exposure to blood/or blood products will receive the hepatitis B vaccine (HBV) unless a current immunization, a protective titer, or a medical exemption is documented.
- The incumbent may be required to work on any day or shift, including night, weekends, holidays, or on an ?on call? basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Managing a HCP clinic/office maintaining equipment and software, as well as providing administrative program management assistance;
Using audio equipment for audiometric testing, recording and interpreting results;
Utilizing DOEHRS-HC software application, DR database or other DOD approved hearing conservation testing software; AND
Reviewing and analyzing hearing conservation data, records, reports, and electronic audit trails to verify data accuracy and to identify and rectify errors.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7.
IF CLAIMING EDUCATION, FAILURE TO SUBMIT TRANSCRIPTS/ITEMIZED LIST WILL RESULT IN AN INELIGIBLE RATING.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
