You will serve as a COMMUNICATIONS LINE INSTALLER in the Assistant Chief of Staff G-6, Voice Service Division, Outside Plant Branch of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will perform maintenance and installation of overhead and underground telecommunication wires, copper cables, single/multi mode fiber optic cables and associated hardware and equipment. You will install overhead cable; pull cable through tunnels, conduits, or lay same in trenches. You will lay out future construction projects, ensuring proper clearances, spacing, and placement facilities in accordance with specifications. You will identify and recommend routes for new cable runs; install telephone poles, anchors, strand, lines/cables, and associated hardware used in construction of telecommunication lines/cables and other supporting accessories.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Must possess a Class B Commercial Vehicle operator's license for vehicles up to 13 tons.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
