The employee serves as a Program Support Assistant for Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS), Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS), and administratively supports P&LMS Anatomic Pathology (AP) activities. The position is located in Nashville, Tennessee.
Duties

Duties include but may not be limited to:
Utilizes a wide variety of computer software such as Vista, Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Adobe, Access and VHA databases to extract and organize data.
Prepares a variety of specific working documents, forms and spreadsheets.
Selects pathology cases for secondary case review according to current organizational and accrediting agency guidelines and creates comprehensive reports with completed data.
Updates and inputs clinical/medical data and complies reports for presentation at committee(s).
Maintains documentation, ensuring documentation is complete and available for review by auditors or accrediting agencies.
Pulls workload data as necessary, tracks due dates and completion dates for timeliness, submits data to credentialing or other departments as appropriate.
Compiles training reports and coordinates with staff to ensure training is completed within established deadlines.
Maintains physician listings and enrollment for applicable education and proficiency programs/activities.
Serves as proctor for applicable proficiency testing events.
Manages inventory and procurement of supplies.
Serves as training administrator for the section and as back-up administrator for other areas of the laboratory.
Communicates anatomic pathology issues and requirements in writing with a variety of people from different backgrounds and different levels of understanding at all levels in the agency.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicant(s) must meet the Specialized Experience requirement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires at least one (1) year of experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5). Specialized experience includes performing administrative/clerical functions; gathering, inputting, and organizing data in automated systems; compiling administrative reports; and utilizing a variety of office equipment and computer software applications. Physical Requirements: The position requires sitting, walking, standing, bending, and carrying light to moderate items such as full file boxes; no greater than 25 pounds.
