You will serve as a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC in the FLEET READINESS CENTER MID ATLANTIC FRCMA PAX A/C MAINT DEPT MRO PROD DIV of FRC DET MIDLANT PAX RIVER MD MPN.

Duties

You will perform circuit analysis and apply electronic principles to troubleshoot and repair various analog and digital devices contained in complex powered ground support equipment. You will interpret tables, color codes, wiring diagrams drawings and schematics. You will be familiar of principles of electricity (AC/DC), solid-state circuitry, AND safety rules and regulations pertaining to powered ground support systems. You will read, interpret, and use wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, technical publications, and similar guides. You will use hand tools, power tools, special tools, instruments, test equipment, and electrical meters to include special tools such as multi-meters, gauges, hydraulic presses, drills, valve spring compressors and micrometers. You will be able to apply shop procedures, policies, written and oral instructions, and directives sufficient to provide training to others.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION Troubleshooting and repairing: diesel, gasoline, and/or multi-fuel engines; gearing and governing components for controlling, changing, or transferring speed and power; hydraulic and pneumatic systems and controls; conditioning systems; electrical and transistorized systems, turbine engines; combustion-powered generators and compressors; disassemble components; adjust brakes; adjust ignition/injector timing and linkages; realign gears, wheels, axles, shafts, bearing and similar parts; accomplish periodic inspections and maintenance on a variety of powered aircraft ground support equipment (GSE); use common and complex tools; use test equipment to troubleshoot the mechanical and electrical subsystems of GSE/ powered support equipment (PSE); utilize technical manuals, directives and work instructions; read and interpret schematics and diagrams.
