The primary purpose of this position is to provide developmental experience designed to broaden the skills and/or enhance the leadership perspective of an identified high-potential, mid-level manager; it is not a continuing position and assignment duration is limited to 36 months.

Duties

DUTY 1 Performs Career Broadening assignments/duties; Administers the Information Security Program protecting the enterprise from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to enterprise mission interests, national defense or national security. DUTY 2 In a Career Broadening capacity, directs the personnel security program to ensure secure accomplishment of the enterprise's missions, goals and objectives through proactive application of security principles, policies, and practices. DUTY 3 Provides enterprise and subordinate organizations worldwide with authoritative guidance on aspects concerning physical security programs for the protection of classified national security information, both Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and collateral information. DUTY 4 Manages the Industrial Security Program.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This is a Centrally Managed position, mobility is a condition of employment, employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.
  • Position is designated Special-Sensitive (SS) and requires access to Sensitive Compartmented Info (SCI), other intel-related SS info, or involvement in TS Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • PCS travel expenses will be paid IAW JTR and DAFMAN 36-142.
  • PCS cost will be paid IAW Career Broadening Policy under this agreement.
  • Career Broadening positions are managed by AFPC/DP2Z and are centrally funded.
  • Positions are established specifically to provide developmental experience designed to broaden the skills and/or enhance the leadership perspective of a high-potential, mid-level manager.
  • Career Broadening also provides training and developmental opportunities at various organizational levels.
  • These assignments offer the qualified candidate a unique assignment in that the candidates brings certain experience to the assignment while gaining new experiences in a different work environment.
  • TEMPORARY PROMOTION: If the position is filled as a temporary promotion, upon completion of the career broadening assignment, the temporary promotion may lead to permanent promotion without further competition.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the AF Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • DoD Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD IAW DoD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION IS LIMITED TO CURRENT PERMANENT INTERNAL AIR FORCE CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES WITHIN THE SECURITY CAREER FIELD ALL OTHER CANDIDATES WILL BE OUTSIDE THE AREA OF CONSIDERATION. THIS ASSIGNMENT IS TEMPORARY AND LIMITED IN DURATION TO 36 MONTHS. THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR ONE FORMAL CAREER BROADENING OPPORTUNITY IN THE SECURITY CAREER FIELD. THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT Headquarters Space Force Operations Command, Directorate of Intelligence, Special Security Office (SSO), Hartinger Building, Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, the specialized experience must have been at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of advanced concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices involved in security. Knowledge of security program interrelationships to coordinate the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs to support and promote information sharing and strategies. Knowledge and skill to interpret a variety of security program laws, directives, regulations, and guidance to assist subordinate organizations in establishing and operating internal security programs. Skill in the use of analytical principles, practices, and techniques to review, evaluate, and apply several alternatives according to the security requirements for highly specific situations, availability of materials, relationships with other protective programs, and cost/benefit considerations. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately to a large range of audiences. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
