About the Position: This is a Environmental Resources Specialist, GS-0401-11/12 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division (NWD), Omaha District, Planning, Programs and Project Management Division.

Duties

Performs research, study, development, and analysis of factual data prepared personally or by other individuals or organizations concerning civil, military, and HTRW projects and DA permit requests. Serves as a team leader and/or technical manager of other environmental disciplines and of engineering and economic disciplines in coordinating environmental aspects of project formulation and preparation of environmental statements. Composes correspondence, technical memorandums, and reports as they pertain to overall interoffice work assignments. Assigns, directs, and reviews work of others assigned to assist in the foregoing work. Helps develop and participates in District public involvement program. Serves as an incidental motor vehicle operator. Operates an automobile or light truck to accomplish assigned duties.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience for GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes Experience assisting with environmental inventories of study areas, which involves adapting known wildlife and vegetation surveying techniques to specific areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: Experience performing studies, surveys, analyses, and evaluations associated with the environmental responsibilities of civil works programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
