Duties

Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establishes deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determines skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provides workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as the scheduling of projected work. Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instructs subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Reviews work In progress or on completion. Makes adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Notes and investigates work related problems and independently Implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Assures that equipment and materiel is available when needed. Coordinates work with other units. Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsels employees on problems. Adjusts informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representatives. Takes informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Initiates proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Works to achieve the objectives of Government-wide programs and policies, e.g., equal employment opportunity and labor management relations. Promotes the participation of subordinates in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Ensures that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed. Maintains production reports and records. Periodically reviews position descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy. Initiates the detailing of subordinates to positions other than their own. Initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods, organizational features, and the structuring of positions to eliminate unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining. Performs the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Alaska Army National Guard membership is required.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• U.S. Citizenship and Secret Clearance is required.

• If hired, this position may require regular Occupational Health exams and/or medical standards being met.
• May require participation in random drug testing.
• APPOINTMENT FACTORS: Excepted/Enlisted in the Alaska Army National Guard.
• MILITARY GRADE REQUIREMENT: Due to the nature of this position, the minimum military grade is Sergeant First Class (SFC/E7) and the maximum military grade is Master Sergeant (MSG/E8).
• MOS REQUIREMENT: Due to the nature of this position, you must currently hold an MOS in the 15 series.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
• Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
• Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
• DESIRABLES: HH-60M and CH-47F experience preferred. Knowledge of AK ARNG AASF operations and supervisory chain preferred.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. WS-12 - Must have atleast 36 months of specialized working experiences in performing, training and/or supervising assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations. Must have working and training experiences in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems. Skilled in planning tasks for subordinate workers and expanded knowledge in using the equipment, facilities and materials. Skilled in meeting deadlines, in using time management to satisfy priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Experiences included redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work. Skilled in articulating work requirements to higher level supervisors and experienced in planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommending projected work. Competent in researching and addressing work related problems such as, excessive costs or low productivity; and, determining the relevant causes. Experiences included implementing corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems. Must have the skill and knowledge to plan work and manage leave schedules. Capabilities include the ability to determine the types and levels of training needs, along with providing mentorship and guidance to subordinates for their professional skill and knowledge improvements. Experienced in writing FWS 2610 performance standards and provided subordinates with formal appraisals of their work performance. Experiences involved advising and counseling workers on how to improve their performance through explanations and demonstrations of work techniques. Work efforts included initiating recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates to senior supervisors. Competent in reviewing job descriptions for accuracy and clarity. Knowledgeable in the correct methods used to investigate, analyze, and resolve grievances and complaints. Experiences involved providing recommendations for disciplinary actions. Skilled in applying interview techniques and understanding of body language patterns. Experiences included interviewing candidates for vacancies and recommending selections to higher level supervisors. Skilled in conducting environmental safety requirements and identifying equipment handling concerns that resulted in observed safety and housekeeping EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates and hours worked per week for each occurrence of both civilian and military employment (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only will result in disqualification.
