The incumbent serves as a Student Trainee with the Bureau of Trade Analysis, performing mathematical computations and analysis.
Duties
As a Student Trainee (Mathematics, Statistics, and Operations Research), you will:
Perform mathematical computations of data. The operations may be complex because of the number of compilations to be made and their interrelationships, but the individual computations performed are of a simple nature involving basic statistical operations, such as measures of central tendency and dispersion.
Prepare graphs through the use of computers, as instructed.
Write brief summaries of analysis. These summaries may require referencing external materials, including Commission reports and news articles.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
GS-04: One full year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled
OR
Completion of 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. (This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.)
OR
You may qualify with a combination of qualifying education and experience. (For example: the completion of 50% requirements for an Associates degree and 6 months of general experience.)
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
