You will serve as a PROPULSION AND POWER SAFETY RISK TECH SPECIALIST in the Air Systems Group, Propulsion and Power ENG DEPT, Modeling and Simulation Division, Structural Integrity Branch of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. For 2 banded STRL Positions W/ control points: SALARY RANGE: $132,368 to $183,500 Per Year. If selected, your salary will be set according to the established control points of this position which is equivalent to GS-14, Step 10: $132,368 - $172,075.

Duties

You will be responsible for the technical development, training, and mentoring of personnel in the risk assessment process. You will host technical training sessions to develop analytical capabilities within the department. You will develop new methodologies and tools for purpose of growing analytical capabilities to meet evolving needs. You will review risk projections and prediction methodologies for improved techniques and tools for implementation. You will identify advanced statistical methods that can provide value added insight to integrated product teams. You will monitor risks of current and advanced Propulsion and Power Programs

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay bandDP-04 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional GENERAL, MECHANICAL OR AEROSPACE ENGINEER. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Expertise in aircraft turbine engine engineering, vehicle propulsion systems (solid, liquid, and air breathing) and associated auxiliary power generation and conversion systems and associated technology; 2) Experience in risk analysis, statistical analysis, fatigue life analysis, and engineering project management; 3) Leading teams in studies of new weapon systems, generating new concepts and designing devices such as aircraft, rocket and auxiliary systems engines and motors; 4) Execute Research, Development, Test and Evaluation projects; 5) Knowledge of resource and financial management. Education

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico The FE examination is not administered by the U. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

OR

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
