Duties

You will Validate and verify requirements specifically for the UPC and tools. You will ensure requirement testability. You will develop Test Plans and ensure coverage through Test Case Matrices. You will develop test procedures to test requirements. You will document each defect encountered in a Software Trouble Report. You will conduct STR analysis and analyze test data. You will provide input to and participate in writing and peer reviewing of requirement documents, software documentation, test cases, and test plans. You will run test procedures in-house and at various external labs (e.g. F/A-18 AWL, AHWS lab). You will coordinate test support requirements with external lab managers. You will have general working knowledge of the SCG, system performance, and system design documents. You will be proficient with the test equipment, i.e., JMPS laptops, AWL set-up and operation, other Navy test equipment. You will load new UPC and MPE software as well as maintain the software in the JMPS machines. You will be called upon to support ARM University, Environmental Developer Testing (EDT), Flight Testing, or other events that demonstrate or utilize mission planning functions. You will communicate with Developers and other Testers to resolve software STRs both internally and externally of the WSMP organization. You will participate in internal and external meetings to discuss mission planning requirements and development of software.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DP-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Developing or tests new equipment or material that significantly adds to the operability and usefulness of existing or new equipment/systems having new features. 2. Planning and carrying out the assignment; resolving most conflicts independently; coordinating the work with others as necessary; interpreting policy and regulatory requirements in terms of established objectives; keeping the supervisor informed of progress and potentially controversial problems. 3. Provides technically sound advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of systems or concept development. Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

For 0801 series: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)
OR
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.

For 1550 Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

For 1520 Basic Requirements: A) Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics. OR B) Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
The total course work in either A or B above must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.

For 1515 Basic Requirements: A) Degree: in operations research; OR B) At least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

For 1310 Basic Requirements: A) Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics. OR B) Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
