This position serves as the Medical Support Assistant (OA) (New Charts) in the Business Office Department at the Clinton Indian Health Center. This position provides a variety of clerical and program support activities involving patient registration and billing for the Business Office. This position reports to the Business Office Manager of the Clinton Service Unit.

Duties
Enters, updates, and verifies alternate resources for patient registration and billing.
Determines if approval is required for specific services for billing purposes.
Determines the eligibility of patients seeking health care.
Interviews and collects third party information. Scans information into the patient record.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-05: Applicant(s) must meet one of the following minimum requirements to meet the GS-05 level:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: use of enrollment computer software systems for patient registration, communicate with patients to obtain routine information that includes biographic and third party insurance information, protect patient sensitive records, review standard forms and patient documentation to complete patient registration, and create reports in office automated systems; OR
Four (4) years of education above the high school level; OR
A combination of education and specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 are also qualifying. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
Typing Proficiency: The typing proficiency requires applicants to type 40 words per minute based on a five-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
