This position is located in Supply Chain Management Service at the VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN. The Program Support Assistant (Office Automation) performs various administrative and clerical duties in support of the service.
Duties
Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) is one of the largest integrated health care systems in the Department of Veterans Affairs and includes facilities in Murfreesboro and Nashville. 20 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics are located in Kentucky and Tennessee. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant (Office Automation), GS-6 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience is defined as: performing a full range of administrative support for an office; receiving visitors and phone calls; reviewing all incoming and outgoing correspondence; scheduling meetings; and utilizing office automation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Dates of employment must include month/year to month/year at a minimum to receive credit.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Functions as the Program Support Assistant and provides specialized administrative work for the service. This support applies to all program requirements, special projects, and selected assignments, as well as preparation for accreditation surveys. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to timekeeping, records management, office management, planning and coordinating various program activities/deadlines, resource management, communications, office safety, and customer service. It is preferred that the applicant has strong typing skills and the ability to utilize Microsoft Office software tools including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. Experience as office lead, office assistant or primary support to an executive, office manager or section director is preferred.
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

There is no educational substitution for the GS-6 level.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
