Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below. The United States Space Force is a military service that organizes, trains, and equips space force in order to protect U. S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. USSF responsibilities include developing Guardians, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to our Combatant Commands.

Duties

Assist in the development of goals and objectives that integrate Space Force mission and personnel policy objectives. Pan and direct the activities of assigned programs or projects for the division or organization. Establish, or review policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design as necessary to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment, promote team building, implement quality improvements, or in response to concerns with statutory and regulatory compliance and/or customer requirements. Assist in planning work, setting and adjusting short-term priorities, and assist in preparation of schedules based on consideration of difficulty of requirements and assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of the staff are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs. Provide advice regarding overarching policies, goals, and objectives. Review and structure organization to optimize use of resources and maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Represent Space Force with a variety of agency, command, and installation and functional area organizations. Directly communicate with SECAF, Office of the Chief of Space Operations (OCSO) and Vice Chief of Space Operations (VCSO) on all agency personnel program issues. Advocate and explain Space Force position regarding senior recruitment and placement, classification, NAF human resources, employee/labor relations, performance management, acquisitions, talent management, succession planning. training, and other areas related to the workforce. Meet with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolves significant problems that arise. Evaluate reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and prepares detailed responses. Perform strategic communication to advocate for organization.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, you can view the experience level requirements here. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade NH-02 orGS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying policies governing Human Resources responsibilities, Providing advice on policies, evaluating organizational structure, and developing communication involving the adherence to HR policy and regulations. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the NH-02 or GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the NH-03 or GS-12/13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
