The incumbent of this position serves as the personal assistant to a Nursing Director coordinating a wide variety of administrative and clerical tasks essential to the management of the nursing department. Provides administrative, technical and procedural advice in support of the nursing department by identifying and analyzing potential issues.

Duties

Major Duties listed but not limited to: Serve as the initial point of contact for all questions, information, and problem resolution in the areas of budget, contracting, travel, human resources, file management, correspondence preparation and control, time and attendance, office automation systems, and purchasing/procurement within the department. Provide support on complex administrative matters affecting the health care delivery system. Prepare correspondence in support of the department's daily operations. Participate in the annual budget review process. Prepare and ensure accuracy of budget reports. Serve as liaison to Human Resources and Nursing Recruiter to track progress on the hiring process. Utilize office automation or word processing applications to create a variety of documents. Obtain statistical data from published reports and use spreadsheet software to produce tables and charts. Coordinate the travel request process for department staff. Assist in the planning and conducting of special projects, workshops, seminars, and other meetings. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 08:00am - 4:30pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing various administrative duties, such as preparing correspondence or reports; collecting and analyzing statistical data; coordinating travel requests; and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
