This position is with the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), in the Directorate of Standards and Guidance (DSG).
This position is at the full performance level.
Selectee will be expected to report to the office as listed.
This position is inside the bargaining unit.

Duties
In cooperation with other OSHA Directorates and the Office of the Solicitor (SOL), leads or participates in the DSG team effort to develop proposed and final regulatory text and supporting analyses for safety and health standards, and develops guidance products on workplace health hazards.
Extracts, collects, aggregates, and organizes information on workplace hazards and possible means of abatement to support agency rulemaking and guidance activities.
Investigates a broad range of areas such as epidemiology, toxicology, biology, biostatistics and industrial hygiene. Initiates, conducts or directs scientific studies and investigations.
Writes and edits content for proposed and final rules, requests for information, and other Federal Register publications, including proposed and final regulatory text and supporting analyses.
Researches, proposes, and/or participates in the formulation of innovative initiatives and programs to assist with compliance with OSHA standards and regulations.
Participates in conferences and negotiations that require specialized subject matter expertise and seasoned experience with difficult issues stemming from legal challenges, intense media scrutiny, and government oversight organizations.
Requirements

- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
Qualifications
This position has an Individual Occupational Requirement. Basic Requirement: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-13 in the Federal Service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: researching information and data to develop proposed or final regulatory text or supporting analyses for safety and health standards; participating in the formulation of initiatives or programs to assist with compliance of OSHA standards and guidelines; analyzing workplace conditions to identify factors affecting occupational activities.
