Duties

You will inspect and operate potable water systems, pumping stations, and their associated controls to adjust the taste, odor, physical, chemical, or bacteriological content of water. You will conduct daily operation and operational inspections of sewage lift and pumping stations to verify operation readiness. You will perform preventative maintenance for sewage lift, pumping stations, and other sanitary sewage commodity system equipment to maintain operational reliability. You will monitor operation of an oil water separator for ground water pump and treatment facility. You will clean and unstop sewer lines throughout a plant to prevent blockages.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a valid state commercial driver's license (CDL), class A within 120 days.
  • You will be required to become certified as a minimum Class IT Water Treatment Operator and a Class 2D Water Distribution Operator within 12 months.
  • You will be required to become certified as a Gas Free Technician within 24 months.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Utilities Systems Operator without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by: 1) Conducts daily operation and operation maintenance of sewage lift and pumping stations; 2) Reads system maps, locate valves, operate valves and pumps, and handle chemical agents; 3) Controls the flow of water from various pumping stations, increasing or decreasing according to stations demands.
