Duties

This position is located in the Criminal Division, within the Economic Crimes Unit and will focus on COVID-19 fraud (PPP and EDIL) cases. The District of Oregon established one of the nation's first COVID-19 Benefits Fraud Working Groups in 2020 and has since become a national leader in prosecuting COVID-19 fraud cases. In this role the incumbent will (a) partner with federal law enforcement agents in structuring and implementing criminal investigative plans and strategies; (b) actively participate in the district's robust COVID fraud program and working groups; and (c) litigate complex COVID-19 fraud (PPP and EDIL) cases from start to finish with limited supervision. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) and have at least 1-year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: AUSAs should be capable of managing numerous ongoing matters; juggling court appearances, depositions and deadlines for discovery and pleadings in a collegial, supportive environment. Applicants should have experience appearing in court, arbitrations, and/or depositions. Applicant should possess superior research and writing abilities, with the ability to prepare high-quality, persuasive pleadings. You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
