This permanent Clinical Pharmacist (Hospital Immunization Coordinator) position is located in the Pharmacy Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit in Whiteriver, Arizona. The incumbent will provide pharmaceutical care for acute patients and serve as the immunization coordinator, perform community outreach, perform extensive coordination and scheduling with other pharmacy officers. This position is supervised by the Director of Pharmacy Outreach.
Duties
Responsible for proper interpretation and dispensing of prescribed products including the review of labeling for directions for use and precautions as necessary to assure proper protection of prescribed products to the patient.
Provide specialized services to assist patients with managing conditions such as diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and other chronic illness.
Provide information and advice about drug therapy and usage, drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
Maintain records such as pharmacy files, patient records, inventories, and control records for narcotics or controlled drugs.
Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by physicians, dentists, and other licensed practitioners by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
May serve as a pharmacy consultant and advisor to such groups as the therapeutic agents committee, the hospital research committee, and the infection control committee.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): All pharmacists must meet the following three basic requirements:
Degree: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recongnized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Licensure: Applicants must be license to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
In addition to meeting the Basic Qualifications, applicants must also meet the Minimum Qualifications below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:, GS-0660-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Collaborate with physicians to discuss potential incompatibility issues with patient prescriptions; maintain accurate inventory of medications; design drug treatment plans; monitor and assure proper drug therapy; provide clinical teaching activities; advise for potential effects of new drugs, by investigating and evaluating the status of drugs which do not yet have approval for general use; provide direct patient care in pharmacy based clinics; provide formal and informal education and in-services to medical staff, pharmacy, and nursing staff; provide education to patients and their families about medications, common disease states and information on health promotion; Immunize and educate out in the field at various off site locations; Participates in ongoing quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
