About the Position: You will serve as a Dam Equipment Mechanic Leader responsible to distribute work, provide instructions, and check on the work in progress for crews performing journeyman level work in a variety of trades.

Duties

Distribute work to crew members daily. Perform research of material needed and the various sources of availability and costs. Provide oversight of the Facility Engineering Maintenance program at the project site. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures to crew members. Review work in progress and upon completion. Make adjustments in procedures and sequence of operations necessary to accomplish the required work effectively. Maintain production reports and records as required. Recommend improvements of work methods and organizational features.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Valid state issued Driver's license is required.
  • Position is under the Medical Surveillance Program.
  • Pre-employment physical and annual physical.
  • Requires pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • May be required to work weekends/holiday.

You must have the ability to perform the common tasks of a Dam Equipment Mechanic Leader by having the ability to lead a work team and perform common tasks in the areas of maintenance, heavy equipment operation and operating and maintaining floating plants and heavy land equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work supervisor who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble Shooting PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires standing, stooping, bending, climbing, reaching and maneuvering in cramped spaces. Regularly lifts 50 pounds and occasionally lifts 100-150 pounds. Hoists, lifts, hand trucks and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Most work is performed inside in areas that are noisy, dirty, and greasy. Outside work is in all weather, including rain and snow, and over and near water. The incumbent is subject to cuts, bruises, falls, scrapes, fumes, burns, abrasions, and danger to the fingers, hands, and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces, and moving machine parts.
