Duties
Serves as the primary leadership position providing direction, coaching and support to facilitate problem solving and accomplishment of Field Office goals and programs.
Responsible for staffing positions with best-qualified individuals, and for training and development of personnel within their respective specialties as well as in other disciplines related to the Field Office and BLM-wide programs.
The incumbent is the primary decision-maker for all land and resource program actions within the Field Office.
Operates multi-million-dollar Field Office programs within budgetary limitations and apportionments.
Is accountable for support of and compliance with special management initiatives and other duties as assigned.

- Supervisory Probationary Period: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period if one has not previously been completed.

Qualifications

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: ability to lead team of subordinates while overseeing and tracking multiple concurrent complex projects. Ability to work with other agencies, Tribal governments, stakeholders, private landowners, and the public to manage a program of conservation and management of land and resource programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: Occasionally required to walk moderately long distances over rough terrain during normal fieldwork.
Work Environment: When in the field, subject to injuries when walking in rough terrain and exposure to uncomfortable hot and cold temperatures. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
