Located in the MWR Marina and Outdoor Recreation Department. The purpose is to help serve customers, provide program information, and assist in the daily operation of the marina & outdoor recreation program. It will involve physical exertion such as lifting, squatting, reaching, carrying and transporting items in support of various programs. And involves everyday discomforts associated with a Marina/Outdoor Rec program.
Position is opened to applicants living in the local commuting area.
Duties
Assists in implementing marina/outdoor recreation activities and programs and preparing required supplies, materials or other resources necessary for program or facility operations.
Assists in operating marina/outdoor recreation activities programs by servicing customers, answering inquiries, providing program information, contacting patrons, and other duties relating to the direct operation of facilities and programs.
Assists in preparing and maintaining marina/outdoor recreation activities programs and equipment. Assists supervisor in ensuring that recreation facilities and equipment are in good operating order and free of safety hazards.
Monitors and implements the maintenance of the facilities and equipment and keeps the supervisor current regarding status of the facility and equipment. Recommends and implements actions as required for facility or equipment maintenance or repairs.
Coordinates and assists other staff members in preparing the recreational facilities and equipment for use in the recreational branch.
Drives government vehicle in support of recreation programs and events.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
- A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.
- Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
Qualifications

One year of specialized experience directly related to the duties described above. Qualifying experience must have been equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Must have a valid State driver's license, as it is required to operate government motor vehicles.
Prior experience working in a marina or outdoor recreation program preferred.
Prior customer service experience is preferred.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
