About the Position: Perform Forklift and Motor Vehicle Operator duties in support of selecting storage locations and storing, stocking, and palletizing material/equipment. This position is located with DIR OF PLANS, TRNG, MOB & SECURITY TRAINING DIVISION FORT LIBERTY NC. Fort Liberty is co-located with Fayetteville North Carolina, a culturally diverse city which enjoys seasonable weather year-round and is surrounded by several colleges/universities, beaches, and the Smokey Mountains.
Duties
Perform administrative tasks necessary to collect, maintain and compile statistical information for TADSS utilization and maintenance reports.
Operate office automation such as computer terminal, bar-code Scanners, and personal computers.
Perform the following Forklift and Motor Vehicle Operator duties in support of the functions assigned.
Receive incoming shipments of items and store in proper storage areas.
Reports violations or perceived violations of safety rules, policies and procedures.
Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of operations, assigned facilities and equipment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Pre-appointment and annual physical is required. Must pass all medical examinations.
- Must possess Driver’s License. Incumbent must be licensed to operate up to 5-ton commercial vehicles with air brakes.
- Incumbent must be licensed/certified to operate variety of material handling equipment to include high-reaching and far-extending forklifts having capacity up to 10,000 pounds.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Material Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks to operate material handling equipment to move, load, unload, transport, and stack and un-stack palletized material, boxes and crates in proper storage areas; checking shipping documents to verify incoming/outgoing shipments, and conduct supply inspections. I can operate a motor vehicle to deliver supplies in various type of environmental conditions. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is performed on hard surfaces; requires standing, stooping, and bending; and working at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 70 pounds (with assistance) and occasionally handling material/equipment weighing over 200 pounds requiring assistance of other workers.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both indoors in a heated warehouse or terminal building, on open docks where weather conditions may be disagreeable or other outside areas. Is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and broken bones from failing items and possible injury form materials handling equipment.
