This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Operations (CG-DCO), Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy (CG-5P), Director of Inspections & Compliance (CG-5PC), Suspension and Revocation National Center of Expertise (NCOE), Martinsburg, WV.
Duties
As a Trial Attorney within Suspension and Revocation National Center of Expertise, you will serve as one of the CG's primary litigation experts for the nationwide Suspension and Revocation (S&R) Program. You will also advise on matters related to legal issues and/or disputes involving aspects of the S&R process and administrative hearings procedures. The cases are grounded in admiralty law.

Qualifications
All Candidates must possess a J.D. or LL.B degree from an accredited law school;ANDMust be a member in good standing of the appropriate licensing authority of any state, territory of the United States, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or District of Columbia bar.ANDTo qualify for the GS-14 level: You must have successfully completed at least one full year of professional legal experience as a practicing attorney equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service as reflected in the nature and complexity of casework and legal issues for which responsible, the level of responsibility exercised, and the degree to which such experience equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience must include:
Providing final reviews and approvals of all documents filed in the context of litigation; AND
Preparing cases for filing by drafting complaints; drafting pleadings, motions and interrogatories in connection with assigned cases; AND
Maintaining and developing programmatic expertise and administrative hearing procedures; AND
Advising and counseling field units and area/district legal offices on issues involving administrative proceedings. Note: Only education and experience acquired before the filing deadline will be considered.
