This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), COMMANDANT, VICE COMMANDANT (CG-09), DEPUTY COMDT FOR OPERATIONS (CG-DCO), NATIONAL MARITIME CENTER in Martinsburg, WV.
Duties
As an Attorney-Advisor (Admiralty) this position serves as the primary legal counsel in matters affecting the administration and functioning of the NMC. Provides advice and guidance on the interpretation and application of case law, statutes, regulations, and other authorities pertinent to NMC operations including FOIA and Privacy Act matters; ethics; appropriations; regulations and rulemaking; human capital management, mariner compliance and fraud, safety and suitability, procurement, records management, information security and financial management.

Qualifications
All Candidates must possess a J.D. or LL.B degree from an accredited law school;ANDMust be a member in good standing of the appropriate licensing authority of any state, territory of the United States, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico or District of Columbia bar.ANDTo qualify for the GS-14 level position, must: have successfully completed at least one full year of professional legal experience as a practicing attorney equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service, as reflected in the nature and complexity of case work and legal issues for which responsible, the level of responsibility exercised, and the degree to which such experience equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Provides advice and guidance on the interpretation and application of case law, statutes, regulations, and other authorities pertinent to NMC operations including FOIA and Privacy Act matters; ethics; appropriations; regulations and rulemaking; human capital management, mariner compliance and fraud, safety and suitability, procurement, records management, information security and financial management.
