This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of the Deputy Administrator, Office of Congressional Affairs.
This position(s) primary purpose is to plan, direct, and execute liaison operations for critical agency-wide programs with national or international implications to ensure the agency is best represented before Congressional members, committees and in meetings with staff.

As a Congressional Affairs Liaison your typical work assignments may include:
Provides expert advice and guidance to inform agency leadership on precedence on broad range of topics and programs related to drug enforcement.
Recommends program plans, goals, objectives, and milestones, which serve as the basis for substantive changes in the organization and administration of programs.
Consults with all levels of management, other federal agencies, and Congressional Offices.
Establishes and maintains relationships with program directors and works closely with their representatives.
Prepares reports or other written analysis regarding DEA policies, positions, and activities involving difficult or complex matters and advises agency leadership on Congressional actions or intentions.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
One year of specialized experience for this position includes: 1) Working or interning in a congressional office, or public or private government affairs office; 2) Advising executives with the management of congressional issues; 3) Analyzing and interpreting politically sensitive information.; 4) Responding to congressional inquiries for multiple departments across an organization; 5) Following legislative process and government functions.
