You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the N4/6 Electronics Maintenance, Facilities, and Supply of NAVAL COMP TELCOM AREA WESTPAC.

Duties

You will serve as the Deputy Department Head for the Facilities, Electronic Maintenance, and Supply Department (N4/6) in managing work of military and civilian personnel. You will provide recommendations for determining which repairs/projects will be initiated, prioritized, or dropped to meet dynamic mission requirements. You will provide recommendations for developing and improving processes to monitor the efficiency of the department. You will perform a full range of supervisory responsibilities for a subordinate staff. Approve leave, chair candidate interview hiring boards and make recommendations for selection of employees. You will promote and further the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) program assuring equal treatment of all subordinates in all areas of work and personnel management.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: 1) Ensuring plans work to be accomplished; enough employees to complete tasks and training to perform the work. 2) Approving employees leave, supporting the development of military and civilian personnel. Setting and evaluating performance, handling minor disciplinary matters such as warnings, and reprimands and recommending action in more serious cases. 3) Identifying department training requirements, based on input from subordinate managers and providing or arranging for requisite training. 4) Providing instruction and guidance, coordinating scheduling and completion of work, advising and providing technical assistance to supervised personnel regarding troubleshooting and repair, applications, services or efforts. 5) Overseeing the planning of immediate, short and long-range programs/goals, budgetary requirements, and manning for the department. This position is within the Work Category Supervision & Management at Work Level III, Series and Grade GG-0856.
