Duties
The primary purpose of this position is as an Information Technology (IT) specialist Air Reserve Technician (ART) at the 932d Operations Group. Responsible for group level administration, operation, and maintenance of the computer network-both land based and installed on supported aircraft. Also, responsible for providing technical assistance, training, and support to management and customers. Services include planning and scheduling installation, configuration, testing and troubleshooting of hardware/software, and assistance/training in response to customer requests and customer reported incidents. This position serves customers in two groups and multiple squadrons, to include a Total Force Integration (TFI) active duty squadron. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position.
Performs work supporting Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN) administration. Manages connectivity and utility of network infrastructure equipment (routers, bridges, hubs, cabling systems, modems and multiplexers) for two groups, multiple squadrons (including a TFI active-duty squadron), and supported aircraft.
Installs/maintains system hardware and software, resolving problems with wired and wireless networks, computers, peripherals, and software. Participates in planning, monitoring, testing, maintaining, and operating multiple operating system-based network platforms.
Provides advice and guidance to core needs of the user and resolves system software/hardware problems elevated by individual users as well as Client Support Technicians (CSTs) and/or Enterprise Service Desk (ESD). Provides advice and guidance to current and potential users, assisting CSTs and users in resolving operational and/or system failures.
Performs management information system (MIS) assignments to support customer needs. Utilizes technology and management principles to develop or adapt computer methods and capabilities to subject matter requirements and end users abilities-both land-based and on supported aircraft.
Participates in the management of Group-level IT programs/projects. Develops and sustains a comprehensive functional knowledge of assigned areas of responsibility. Assesses and analyzes current issues and advises the Commander at all levels on decisions and recommended course of actions relative to assigned programs/projects.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 that includes troubleshooting and maintaining the stability of communication lines and equipment; installing, configuring, and troubleshooting routers, hubs, switches, and servers; planning and maintaining network services; installing, testing, and configuring workstations and peripherals; instructing customers in accessing network services.

EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of mission, organization, programs and functions of 932d Operations Group and its relationships to major customers such as Congress, MAJCOM leadership, and Combatant Commanders.
Knowledge of system administration procedures, data recovery tools, and software mechanisms in order to monitor and troubleshoot system, recover data in the event of a failure, etc.
Knowledge of customer support principles and methods, Information Technology (IT) systems in organizations serviced, IT techniques and practices, telecommunications principles, configuration principles, training methods and knowledge based applications.
Knowledge of the organization's IT infrastructure, IT products and services. Knowledge of computer and telecommunications security methods, principles and techniques.
Knowledge of troubleshooting methods and practices, analytical techniques, data analysis methods and system diagnostic tools.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. Must meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. The incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties; however, the incumbent may also be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30% of total responsibilities. Work schedules will be so aligned to allow the individual to function fully on unit training assembly (UTA).
May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. May be subject to on call or recall during contingencies or emergencies.
May occasionally be required to travel away from the normal duty station, which may require the employee to travel on military or commercial aircraft.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency. Retired military that have active AF Reserve assignments may apply provided they show assignment (position) on the application. A military service member's statement of service/certification will be accepted IF a terminal leave form or DD214 cannot be provided. It must be signed by, or by direction of, the adjutant, personnel officer, or commander of your unit or higher headquarters and must indicate when your terminal leave will begin, your rank, dates of active duty service, the type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable). Military members may be appointed before the effective date of their military retirement/separation if member is on terminal leave.
Individuals selected for ART positions must meet both civilian qualifications and uniformed military requirements.
