You will serve as a FREIGHT RATE ASSISTANT (OA) in the Traffic Management Branch of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.

Duties

You will be responsible for effecting shipments of general freight, hazardous material, weapon systems, ammunition and explosives. You will initiate the billing process for various transportation documents such as commercial bills of lading, transportation control movement documents and air bills. You will prepare and answers discrepancy reports, contact commercial carrier to pick up shipments, make arrangements with carriers to provide the proper equipment or signature and tally records, compose and type correspondence letter and memorandums. You will determine the mode of transportation of each shipment to include small parcels by the means of surface, air, and/or sea. You will select the required transportation security protection required for the shipment. You will operate an automated system that allows the user to plan and route shipments, select the lowest cost commercial trucking company and generate commercial and government bills of lading. You will process freight information and downloads it to the payment office.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: preparing transportation documents, selecting commercial carriers, distributing, and filing of various transportation documents. Education

In lieu of the experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:

Successfully completed four years of education above high school

OR

Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
