The Office of Facilities and Maintenance Division is recruiting an Utilities System Repairer Operator to repair and operate one or more utility systems (a/c, heating, water, sewage, electricity generation and distribution, etc.).

Duties

Maintain the correct steam pressure and water level in the steam generators by proper operation of the control system Inspect feed water regulatory controls and gauges Maintain an established chmical program by performing tests and adding the required chemicals to each system and adjusting system blow down rates Operation of all auxiliary equipment associated with steam generation Maintain correct air pressure by proper adjustment to the air compressors Maintain correct chilled water temperature by proper operation of the chiller's control system Operate the cooling tower, variable speed chilled water pumps, and all associated equipment

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
  • Suitable for Federal employment
  • Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination
  • Bargaining Unit Position: Yes, Washington Area Metal Trades Council (WAMTC), AFL-CIO
  • Shift work required
  • This position requires call back or emergency overtime.
  • Must obtain and maintain Universal CFC Certification within the first 6 months of employment.

Qualifications

There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the Utility Systems Repairer Operator, as described in this announcement, without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher on the applicant assessment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
