Position invloves providing a wide variety of administrative tasks for the Environmental Management Service (EMS) associated with manintaining and supporting work performed within the serice.
Duties
Actively participate in support of the service by ensuring that the clerical and admin portion of the Service Chief's work is accomplished to relive the management team of as many admin duties as possible.
Respond to routine and non-routine technical requests for information.
Screens sales calls, schedules appointments according to openings on the Chief's and section manager's calendars.
Responsible for reserving conference rooms for medical center staff for meetings, and ensuring availability
Receives and reviews all incoming and outgoing mail for the service.
Prepares in final format routine correspondence ensuring that it meets acceptable VA standards.
Responsible for reviewing all Personnel Actions, and must be able to account for vacancies that exist.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Qualifications

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience where you were responsible for providing clerical, technical, or customer support; receiving and referring phone calls; communicating and treating customers in a courteous, tactful and respectful manner while providing consistent information according to established policies and procedures; and using computer programs to prepare documents. NOTE: This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable.. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school. (Transcript Required). OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond completed post-high school education. Only education in in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e. beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.(Transcript Required).

Physical Requirements: The work area is usually an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office of medical facility setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The sedentary and may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. The work requires light to moderate levels/times performing keyboarding to prepare correspondence.
