This position performs simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades.
Duties
Performs simple and routine work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings and related utilities, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, cement work, painting, trail work, and other related trades. Performs labor and custodial duties including cleaning offices, public restrooms, and other areas, collecting and transporting garbage, and cleaning floors and carpets. Performs and assists higher graded employees in a variety of tasks related to the upkeep of buildings, utilities, trails, and grounds. Operates riding and small power mowers, gas powered weed eaters, gas powered hand auger, and grounds hand tools such as rakes, pole pruners, hand pruners, and shovels. Operates vehicles (sedans, pickups, and trucks up to one ton capacity) to transport passengers, supplies, or materials. Performs and assists with preparation and painting of various types of surfaces using interior and exterior paints and preservative compounds. Performs and assists higher graded employees in general maintenance and makes repairs to buildings and residences. Performs and assists higher graded employees in maintenance and repairs to items constructed of wood, concrete, metal, timber, stone, and other miscellaneous materials using basic hand and power tools. Assists with replacing elements to buildings, residences, and equipment such as boards, siding, and mower blades. Works indoors and outdoors and may work in adverse weather conditions and on rough or uneven terrain. Operate government-owned vehicles including boats up to 26 feet, snowmobiles, and groomers.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervisor (SCREEN OUT)
Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (Includes blueprints reading)
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
Knowledge of materials
Technical practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation repair, etc.
Use of measuring instruments
