The Raven Rock Mountain Complex is a unique facility. The Facility is required to maintain rigorous redundancy, reliability, and security standards to provide mission support to DoD mission partners.

Duties

This is a Direct Hire Public Notice, under this recruitment, applications will be accepted for each location and/or installation identified in this Public Notice and selections are made for vacancies as they occur. This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P. L. 116.92 and Section 9905 of Title 5 U.S.C. Please read this Public Notice in its entirety prior to submitting your application for consideration. Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Performs maintenance and repair of all AC generators, voltage regulators, engine gauge boards and governing systems. Performs maintenance, repair and major overhaul of all diesel prime movers. Performs calibration, testing and rebuilding of high-pressure injectors. Maintains, repairs, and overhauls multiple, two-stage air compressors/scroll compressors and high/low compressed air systems. Monitors hot water/steam boilers in both plants taking hourly readings and reporting any problems with these units to the power controller.

  • This position may require travel away from your normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. The travel time for this position would be less than 5% annually

  • The incumbent is subject to an irregular work schedule

Qualifications

Mission essential employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations (e.g., building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor. Your background must demonstrate a full range of installing, operating, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical power production equipment and associated components, electrical distribution equipment, and diesel engines. Adjusting, repairing, and replacing major assemblies and components such as rings, pistons, rods, rod bearings, seals, camshaft bearings, valves, valve guides, and gaskets for engines. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the questions. The screen-out element for this position is Ability to Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Those who meet the minimum level of experience and training for the screen-out element will then be evaluated in each of the following job elements: Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: In this position, the work is extremely strenuous due to the size and condition of the equipment. This position requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 75 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work place is located in a high security DOD facility. The job includes working in hot or cold, cramped, dirty, and noisy places where the equipment may be dangerous or difficult to repair because of defects. There is frequent exposure to electrical shocks or injuries encountered while working on equipment. All qualifications requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.

The Washington Headquarters Service is currently operating under an approved reengineered Priority Placement Program (PPP) pilot for all positions in its serviced workforce.
