Real Property Management Services (RPMS) has responsibility for the Department of Justice's real property asset management programs. Assets include land, buildings, and other structures which are permanent acquisitions (federally owned) or those that are temporary in nature, e.g., General Services Administration (GSA) assignments, leases, licenses, easements, and permits.

The duties and responsibilities for Space Management Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide analysis to management on the evaluation of the effectiveness of government programs and operations.
Knowledge of GSA (General Services Administration) real property policy, and leasing procedures and practices.
Skills in the application of fact finding and investigative techniques, oral and written communications, and development of presentations and reports.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Space Management Specialist at (GS-0301-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
Specialize Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service, which includes: 1). Knowledge of regulations governing real property and space management to conduct surveys of present and projected space and land requirements, and to provide recommendations regarding the proper and most efficient use of proposed real property and space. 2). Concepts, skills, principles, practices, and techniques associated with space management and acquisition of interests in real property including a thorough understanding of lease interpretation and application, and the regulations governing the legal requirements associated with lease agreements.
