Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Affairs Specialist (Leader), you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness & Response (ASPR) to optimize business results and customer experience by: Directing the formation of goals, objectives, plans and strategies for the ASPR public affairs program. Planning and executing campaigns and outreach efforts designed to communicate information about ASPR/DHHS activities to a wide variety of internal and external audiences. Developing public affairs guidelines for H-CORE staff on preparation of material, media relations, public engagement, and speaking opportunities. Developing and preparing materials describing a broad scope of DHHS/ASPR programs including news releases, fact sheets, public service announcements, scripts for video productions, web content, digital communications including social media, talking points, brochures, magazine and journal articles and other materials. Arranging for speeches, news conferences and other public appearances by H-CORE officials. Maintaining productive ongoing relationships and communications with ASPR subject matter experts to stay aware of DHHS activities and initiatives and advising ASPR of public attitudes, perceptions, and criticisms of agency programs.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: Developing communication plans and strategies involving public health emergencies. Coordinating and/or providing authoritative advice on public affairs policies to senior officials; Developing, editing, and handling the publication of written materials and multimedia that convey information concerning public health emergency issues. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
