About the Position: Serves as the Geographic Information System (GIS) Coordinator, subject matter expert and program manager for the Presidio of Monterey Installation on the Presidio of Monterey, Ord Military Community and US Army Signal Activity on Camp Roberts sites.
TERM Appointment: This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years.
Duties
Serve as a Geographic Information System (GIS) Coordinator for the Presidio of Monterey Installation.
Develop new and innovative applications based on general guidance from senior staff, supervisor, staff, IMCOM Headquarters and external customers.
Develop Geographic Information System directives and policies and assists with developing policies.
Prepare and manage contracts to develop, populate and maintain the Geographic Information System database.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty Travel may be required 5% of the time.
- Must have or obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 13 months and cannot be made permanent. A term position may be extended to a maximum of eight years depending upon the needs of management.
- Term employment is subject to a one year trial period.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) designing, testing, and maintaining Geographic Information System programs; (2) testing, installing, and maintaining Geographic Information System software; (3) perform analyses of Geographic Information System data and develop solutions to resolve complex problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Education
Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
